Duties
- Perform pet grooming services including bathing, brushing, trimming, and styling coats to meet breed standards or owner preferences
- Handle animals with gentle care, ensuring proper restraint and safety during grooming procedures
- Conduct pet nail trimming, ear cleaning, and other hygiene maintenance tasks
- Communicate effectively with pet owners to understand grooming preferences and provide advice on pet coat care
- Maintain a clean and organized grooming station, including sanitizing tools and work areas regularly
- Assist with animal handling during intake and departure, ensuring all pets are comfortable and secure
- Support additional animal care duties such as kennel cleaning.
Requirements
- Proven experience in pet grooming, including pet coat styling and pet nail trimming
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal handling best practices, such as working with puppies
- Veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable
- Familiarity with animal restraint techniques to ensure safety for pets and groomers alike
- Strong communication skills for engaging with pet owners about grooming needs and animal care tips
- Ability to lift heavy pets or equipment safely as required by the role
- Prior kennel experience or heavy lifting experience is a plus for managing larger animals or supplies
