What are the responsibilities and job description for the Visitor Services Associate - Gift Shop position at Lauritzen Gardens?
As a Gift Shop Visitor Services Associate, you will be responsible for ensuring that guests are greeted, assisted, and served beyond their expectations. Responsible for the operations of the retail store including front line sales and customer service, membership and admission, and merchandise presentation. Schedule will be part time weekdays and weekends between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, as well as late hours for special events and holidays and late nights on weekdays during summer until 8:30. Estimated 16-24 hours per week.
DUTIES:
· Greet every guest as they enter the store
· Open and close store/admissions as trained
· Accurately record all transactions on the point-of-sale system
· Assist customers with merchandise selections and/or information on exhibits and events
· Promote memberships
· Keep store area clean and stocked. Assist with daily merchandise unpacking and check in.
· Effectively communicate and assist, as needed, with special events
· Stay alert at all times to prevent damage and theft
· All other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Previous experience working with the public
· Job-related skills include, but are not limited to, interpersonal and customer service skills, and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
· Ability to walk/stand for long periods of time
Must be able to pass a background check (criminal & driving record) prior to start of employment
