The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Sous Chef who shares our commitment to excellence, creativity, and innovation in senior living dining. This key role supports the Executive Chef and provides hands-on culinary expertise to ensure our food program continues to set and exceed the standard for what senior living dining can—and should—be. Leadership/Culture
- Assisting the Executive Chef in training, menu execution, and providing culinary leadership for the team
- Mentoring developing culinary team to support ongoing growth and fostering a positive, collaborative, and professional kitchen culture
- Leading, coaching, inspiring kitchen team with professionalism and kindness, maintaining a warm, hospitality-driven culture
- Displaying excellent communication remaining calm and courteous under pressure
Operations/Quality
- Ensures food quality, presentation, and flavor consistently meet community standards while overseeing the kitchen staff
- Helps control ordering, inventory, and cost control
- Assists with menu development, special events, and seasonal offerings
- Partners with the dining and other teams to create a seamless experience for residents and guests
- Ensures resident preferences, requests, and dietary needs are accommodated with care
Compliance/Training/Safety
- Ensures proper storage while keeping refrigeration, equipment and working areas in clean, working condition to comply with health department regulations.
- Ensures new hires are trained in proper use of equipment, safety and food handling procedures and ongoing training is conducted as required
- Collects and maintains all safety and temperature logs to ensure compliance with required health and safety standards
- Ensures other compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory standards are met and achieved
Pay
- Salary - $63,000 - $64,500
Schedule
- Typically, 40-Hours per week for great work life balance.
- Ideal schedule Tuesday – Saturday, 10:30am – 6:30pm but may be able to adjust.
- Must be available to work holidays as needed.
Requirements
- 2 years experience as a Sous Chef or Kitchen Lead required
- 5 years line experience with strong sauté’, grill and pantry skills
- Baking experience a plus but not required
- A hands-on, proactive team player with a strong work ethic and desire to grow
- Strong knowledge of scratch cooking, food safety, and sanitation
- Ability to lead calmly and positively in a guest-focused environment
- Flexible availability, including weekends
- Passion for food, hospitality, and enriching the lives of others
- A service-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills
Language Requirement
All team members must have the basic ability to use computer/smart phone applications for training and company system purposes. Employees must also be able to comprehend written documents such as work orders, safety rules, instructions, policies, and procedures. Also required is the ability of employees to speak and communicate effectively with clients, coworkers and management.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three years related experience.
