Job Title: Accounting Manager
Salary: $90,000 – $105,000 base bonus structure
Location: Kansas City
Hybrid: 2-3 days per week in office minimum
The Opportunity
Launchpad Recruitment are working with a highly respected, long-established Law Firm with a strong reputation across the Midwest.
The business combines a mid-sized structure with a genuine small-firm culture, supported by modern systems and large-firm-grade technology.
They are now looking for an Accounting Manager to take ownership of firm-wide accounting operations, lead a small team, and work closely with senior leadership including the COO.
This is a hands-on, high-visibility role suited to someone who enjoys both technical accounting and operational responsibility within a collaborative, relationship-driven environment.

The Role
→ Full ownership of firm-wide accounting operations across multiple offices
→ Month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and journals
→ Managing and developing a small accounting team (approx. 2.5 FTE)
→ Supporting multi-state tax filings and registrations (including 1099s, 1096s, use tax across multiple states)
→ Managing trust accounting processes and supporting audit preparation with external accountants
→ Acting as a key point of contact for the COO and wider leadership team
→ Supporting AR/AP as required and producing ad hoc financial analysis
→ Working across 7–8 offices, supporting attorneys and operational teams
→ Reports directly to the COO (with close partnership with finance leadership)
→ Manages a small team (~2.5 FTE)
What we’re looking for
→ Previous experience in a supervisory or management role
→ Background in professional services (law firm, financial services, or insurance strongly preferred)
→ Strong hands-on experience in month-end close, reconciliations, and reporting
→ Experience with cash or modified cash basis accounting (Desirable)
→ Multi-state tax and compliance exposure
