CSuite Financial Partners/Ravix Group LLC has been retained by our clients, a regional Midwestern US Law firm, to place an Accounting Manager with their team!
This is a Hybrid role based in the greater Kansas City, MO area. Ideally able to be in office 2-3 days per week, with the option for full-remote stretches periodically.
This role will be responsible for the firm-wide accounting operations and general end-to-end accounting/finance functions.

About the Role
Our client needs someone with 2–5 years of supervisory/management experience in accounting who thrives in a collaborative, direct-communication environment and can take real ownership of firm-wide accounting operations. You should be comfortable managing a small team, handling multi-state tax filings, and working closely with senior leadership — including the COO. Bonus points if you have cash basis or modified cash basis accounting experience and a background in professional services (law firm experience is ideal).
Responsibilities
- Oversee firm-wide accounting operations including financial statement preparation, monthly/year-end close, reconciliations, and journal entries
- Manage and mentor a team of 2.5, providing technical guidance on accounting and tax topics
- Handle multi-state tax filings (1096/1099s, state use tax, business registrations) and attorney licensing/dues administration across 7 states
- Manage trust accounts and coordinate audit preparation (internal and client-facing) with outside accountants
- Act as backup on AR/AP and produce ad hoc reporting for the COO and firm leadership
- Collaborate cross-functionally across 8 offices, serving as a reliable accounting resource for attorneys and staff at all levels
- Strong skills with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent degree substantial accounting experience)
- 4 - 10 years of experience 4-10 years total accounting experience, including 2-5 years in a supervisory or management role, ideally within professional services or law firm environments
- Professional services accounting experience (law firm ideal; finance/insurance acceptable)
- Supervised or managed a small accounting team (2 direct reports)
- Cash basis or modified cash basis accounting experience — firm is cash basis;this is a "huge plus"
- Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Office Suite
- Hands-on: financial statement prep, month/year-end close, reconciliations, journal entries
- Strong GAAP knowledge (cash basis application preferred over pure accrual)
- Collaborative team player — firm's core value; must thrive in tight-knit, cross-functional environment
- Handles direct feedback without defensiveness — firm has very direct personalities; conflict-averse candidates are a mismatch
- Mentor mindset — coaches junior staff on technical accounting and tax topics
- Comfortable communicating up and down the org (reports to COO; manages 2.5-person team)
- Kansas City-based; in-person during ramp/training (2–3 days/week in-office minimum once trained — non-KC candidates not considered)
