Essential Functions
- Investigate and resolve application-level bugs by analyzing logs, reviewing code, and debugging in collaboration with development teams
- Restart, monitor, and maintain application and database servers to ensure high availability and optimal performance
- Respond to technical change requests, implementing enhancements or configuration changes within the company’s web applications as specified
- Perform database administration tasks including backup/restore, indexing, partitioning, and monitoring database health
- Proactively tune SQL Server databases to improve performance and resolve bottlenecks
- Write, modify, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and views to meet business needs
- Monitor and maintain database high availability configurations, clusters, and failover mechanisms
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including deadlocks, blocking, growth, and fragmentation
- Document technical processes, fixes, and change implementations to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance
- Work with developers, QA, and other IT teams to validate and deploy fixes and updates into production environments
- Support the implementation of security best practices for databases and applications, including STIG compliance and access controls
- Participate in UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and assist with deployments to test and production environments
- Provide on-call support and respond to critical incidents as needed to maintain service levels
- Advanced expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and newer) administration, tuning, and troubleshooting
- Experienced in setting up, tuning and maintaining AWS RDS database instances.
- Strong understanding of database high availability, clustering, mirroring, and disaster recovery strategies
- Proficiency in T-SQL development and query optimization
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, IIS, VMware, and related infrastructure components
- Familiarity with STIG compliance, server hardening, and data security practices
- Knowledge of application development and debugging in .NET (C#/ASP.NET) environments is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey technical information clearly
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple complex tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive and customer-focused mindset
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; equivalent experience considered
- 3 years’ experience in SQL Server database performance tuning and application support
- Experience supporting web-based applications and maintaining enterprise-scale databases
- Experience implementing and tuning SQL Server clusters, mirroring, and high availability setups
