As a VMC setup specialist, you’ll be the catalyst for quality and throughput, orchestrating tooling, fixtures, and programs while proving out first articles and keeping production stable across multiple machines.
Impact you’ll make- Configure and operate CNC vertical milling centers to meet exacting requirements
- Choose/install tooling and workholding; upload and verify the correct program
- Translate blueprints into actionable setups and machining strategies
- Own first-piece and in-process inspections using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and related instruments
- Dial in offsets, perform minor troubleshooting, and stabilize processes
- Balance throughput across up to two machines and complete 1–5 setups per day based on the job mix
- Contribute within a fast-moving, collaborative culture
- Demonstrated CNC setup experience on vertical milling centers
- Fluent blueprint interpretation
- Hands-on quality inspection using micrometers, calipers, and gauges
- Experience running Fanuc-controlled equipment
- Haas VMC setup/operation background
- Capability to edit programs at the control
- G-code and M-code proficiency
- Experience working with CNC machines up to 5-axis
- Haas VF-2, VF-5 vertical mills
- DMG Mori CMX 1100 mills
- DMG Mori NVX 5100, 7000 mills
- Okuma mills and lathes
- CNC tooling selection and setup
- G-code and M-code understanding
- Setup/changeover for production efficiency
- Machine setups optimized for repeatable production runs
- CNC mill (3–4 axis VMC): Haas, Doosan, Fanuc
- Multimeter
