Job Description

LAUNCH CNY is growing, and we're looking for a dependable, encouraging Career Coach & Pre-Employment Trainer to join our Employment Services team!

In this role, you'll help individuals explore career options, prepare for employment, and build the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workplace. You'll support employed individuals through regular check-ins and lead pre-employment skills classes for teens and young adults twice a week.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships, and helping others reach their goals. You'll receive training, develop practical coaching skills, and make a meaningful difference in people's lives while helping them build greater independence.

What You'll Do

  • Support employment success: Conduct regular check-ins with employed individuals, help address workplace challenges, and reinforce strategies for maintaining employment.
  • Lead pre-employment classes: Facilitate twice-weekly classes for teens and young adults focused on workplace readiness, communication, professional behavior, and other essential employment skills utilizing existing curriculum.
  • Build community connections: Develop relationships with local employers and community partners to support successful employment outcomes.
  • Provide individualized coaching: Adapt your approach to each person's learning style, strengths, goals, and support needs.
  • Track progress: Complete timely, accurate service documentation and communicate relevant updates with the team.
  • Follow program requirements: Deliver services in accordance with agency procedures and applicable ACCES-VR requirements.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is patient, dependable, encouraging, and comfortable taking initiative. You don't need to know everything on day one—we're looking for someone who is willing to learn, build relationships, and follow through.

You'll be a strong fit if you:

  • Enjoy helping people learn, grow, and work toward meaningful goals.
  • Communicate clearly and build positive relationships with individuals, employers, and coworkers.
  • Can work independently, solve problems, and manage changing schedules.
  • Are organized and comfortable using email, the internet, and basic computer programs.
  • Can adapt your communication and teaching style to meet different learning needs.
  • Are comfortable working in both classroom and community-based settings.

Additional qualifications:

  • Customer service, sales, teaching, training, or related experience is preferred.
  • Experience supporting people with diverse abilities or learning styles is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree required and one year of employment-services experience or related experience.
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation, willingness to travel in all weather including snow and rain.

Training & Support

You'll receive paid training to learn the role, understand program requirements, and develop effective coaching strategies. We want you to feel prepared to work independently while knowing when and how to reach out to your team for guidance.

In this role, you'll be expected to:

  • Apply training and use person-centered approaches to support each individual's goals.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation.
  • Communicate professionally and follow through on commitments.
  • Balance independent work with collaboration and adherence to agency and ACCES-VR requirements.

Benefits

Available to employees working 17.5 hours per week.

  • Health and dental insurance
  • Generous paid time off
  • 403(b) retirement plan
  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Employee discount
  • Family leave
  • Referral program
