When McCook, IL winds down, you gear up. From 10:00 pm to 8:30 am, Wednesday through Saturday, you'll be the go-to expert diagnosing, rebuilding, and repairing heavy-duty diesel assets—tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units. Your precision work and thorough records keep equipment compliant and "roadworthy."
What You'll Tackle
- Diagnose, rebuild, and repair diesel fleet equipment (tractors, trailers, refrigeration/reefer units).
- Execute routine and scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Document all work in the online Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system with complete, accurate notes.
- Participate in periodic meetings with the customer to review issues and priorities.
- Verify licensing and registration are in place before equipment is deemed "roadworthy."
- Install, replace, and repair onboard computers (XRS or XataNet) and camera systems (Drive Cam).
- Keep your bay clean, organized, and safe; follow company, local, state, and federal safety policies.
- Share knowledge—train teammates and mentor newer technicians.
- Handle other assigned tasks that support fleet reliability.
Schedule & Pay
- Location: McCook, IL
- Shift: 3rd shift, Wednesday–Saturday
- Hours: 10:00 pm – 8:30 am
- Compensation: $32–$36 per hour, DOE
What You Bring
- High school diploma or GED.
- 4 years of related diesel service experience.
- Your own professional-grade tools.
- Valid driver's license to operate applicable company vehicles.
- Acceptable motor vehicle record in compliance with Department of Transportation regulations.
- Comfort using onboard computers and desktop systems.
- Ability to read and speak English to converse with the public, interpret traffic signs/signals, respond to official questions, and make legible entries on reports and records.
- Strength to frequently lift/push/pull over 50 lbs; occasionally exceed that threshold.
- Willingness to travel occasionally.
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication.
Preferred
- ASE certifications (including Master-T).
- Trade school diploma/certificate.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Experience with lift gates and material handling equipment.
Working Conditions
Mix of shop, office, yard, and vehicle environments. May require lifting 20–50 lbs. at least once per day.
