What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resources Assistant position at Laudisi Enterprises, Inc.?
HR Assistant
Looking for a job? Look elsewhere.
Looking for a practice — one where your judgment matters, your discretion is non-negotiable, and getting it right isn’t optional? That’s a different conversation.
We're Laudisi — the people behind Smokingpipes, Peterson of Dublin, Caldwell Cigars, Cornell & Diehl, and a few other brands our customers are quietly obsessed with. Our HR team is small, which means every person carries real weight. Payroll has to be right. Records have to be clean. And the experience employees have — from day one to their last day — has to be handled with care.
That's where you come in.
- Process bi-weekly payroll and audit timecards for accuracy
- Track PTO balances, leaves of absence, and timekeeping records
- Support hiring logistics — background checks, candidate travel, interview scheduling
- Maintain employee records and process status changes in ADP Workforce Now
- Handle onboarding and offboarding paperwork and coordination
- Conduct 90-day check-ins with new employees and support the HR Director on employee relations matters
- Manage scheduling and logistics for the company's corporate guest house (used to host candidates, brand partners, and visiting guests)
You're not looking for a role where the work is visible. You're looking for one where the work is right. You're someone who finds errors before anyone else does — and quietly fixes them. YYou treat confidentiality like a non-negotiable. Deadlines don't stress you out; missing them does. You understand that in HR, trust is everything, and you act accordingly.
- A genuine intolerance for error — not the anxious kind, the professional kind. When something’s off, you find it and fix it.
- Discretion that’s non-negotiable. You understand that what you handle doesn’t leave the room.
- The kind of organizational discipline that means nothing falls through the cracks — not because you’re checking a box, but because that’s just how you operate.
- 1–3 years of HR, payroll, or administrative experience
- Ability to work onsite, Monday - Friday
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now preferred; payroll/timekeeping system experience required
- Strong Excel skills and comfort working across multiple systems
- Working knowledge of HR compliance basics (I-9, FLSA, etc.)
- Degree in HR preferred; adjacent degree or equivalent experience considered
- Compensation and benefits: Competitive pay; health, dental, and vision insurance; six paid holidays; generous PTO; 401(k) with 1:1 match up to 4% and no vesting period.
- Perks: Casual dress, tuition reimbursement, referral bonuses, year-end bonuses, fresh fruit daily, paid luncheons, and regular company events.
- Growth: Real opportunities to take on more responsibility as you demonstrate judgment and initiative.
- Culture: A passionate group of "Laudisians" who like the products, like the customers, and like working with other people who actually care.
- Reality check: We work around tobacco and smoke; many of us are enthusiasts. You'll need to be comfortable with that environment.
This role is for someone who takes quiet pride in getting things right — who sees a messy process and wants to fix it, who handles sensitive information the way it deserves to be handled, and who wants to be the kind of HR person employees actually trust.

If you're reading this thinking, "that sounds like a lot of pressure" — it might not be the right fit. And that's okay. There are plenty of other jobs out there.
But if you want to do meaningful work in a place where your attention to detail actually matters?
We're building something here. Come help us build it right.
Look, we’re super passionate about the things we do—for many of us that includes the things we buy, make, and sell chiefly pipes, pipe tobacco, and cigars. Lots of us smoke tobacco at Laudisi and there will be times when you must work in smoking areas. Please consider whether you are comfortable working around smoke and tobacco before applying for this position.
