Manager, Contracting – Managed Care (Hybrid—Santa Barbara, CA, In-House) (Engagement-to-Hire or Direct Hire)
Latitude is seeking a Manager, Contracting – Managed Care to join the in-house contracting team of a respected healthcare organization. This Hybrid role (combination of on-site and remote/WFH — Santa Barbara, CA) offers the opportunity to play a key role in managed care strategy, payer negotiations, and contract system oversight.
This position is available as either an engagement-to-hire contract role or permanent/direct hire placement for the ideal candidate. It is an excellent opportunity for a healthcare contracting professional who enjoys working cross-functionally with finance, revenue cycle, legal, and executive leadership to drive reimbursement strategy and operational compliance.
Basic Requirements / Key Responsibilities of the Manager, Contracting — Managed Care:

Location: Hybrid — Santa Barbara, CA (regular on-site presence required; remote/WFH flexibility available)
Compensation
Pay: The annualized pay for this position is expected to range from $120,000 to $170,000, depending on experience, qualifications, internal equity considerations, and market factors. For engagement candidates, pay is based on multiple factors including but not limited to work experience, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and candidate preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect competitiveness).

For engagement candidates: Latitude contract professionals are usually W2 employees of Latitude and are eligible for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week. Benefits-eligible Latitude professionals receive complimentary Group Life, LTD, and AD&D. A qualified 401(k) plan is also available. Basic Requirements / Key Responsibilities of the Manager, Contracting — Managed Care:
- 2 years (ideally 5 years) of experience managing, reviewing, analyzing, and negotiating healthcare managed care and/or service contracts
- Demonstrated experience supporting payer contracting strategy, reimbursement modeling, and payment analysis
- Strong understanding of value-based reimbursement structures, including bundled payment arrangements and capitated payment models
- Experience collaborating with finance, revenue cycle, legal, and executive leadership
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to navigate and maintain contract databases
- Experience administering a contract management system (MediTract or comparable platform preferred)
- Strong analytical, organizational, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)
- Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (preferred)
- Outstanding professional references
- Assists in the development and execution of value-based contract strategy, including bundled payment arrangements, capitated payment arrangements, and other alternative payment models.
- Interfaces with revenue cycle and patient financial services teams to resolve disputes between contracted reimbursement terms and actual payments.
- Supports requests for and negotiates payment from non-contracted third-party payers for inpatient and other healthcare services.
- Supports executive leadership, department directors, and managers with service contract and lease review, initiation, and renewal, ensuring compliance with organizational contracting policies and recommending cost savings and compliance improvements.
- Serves as administrator for the contract management system (e.g., MediTract or comparable platform) for managed care and service contracts, maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the contract database.
- Communicates across the organization regarding contract- and lease-related matters, including payer and vendor programs, policies, and procedures, and provides recommendations for contract policy updates.
