What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Attorney (Full-Time Permanent Placement; Hybrid) position at Latitude Legal?
Latitude is assisting a highly respected Oregon law firm in identifying a Litigation Attorney for a permanent position. This role will support active litigation matters and administrative proceedings, working closely with internal teams on case strategy, filings, discovery, and overall case management.
The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling civil litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, preparing motions, and supporting hearings and trial preparation. Experience in medical malpractice defense is preferred but not required.
Candidates must have no less than three years of civil litigation experience and be comfortable managing multiple matters in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.
This is a hybrid role. Candidates must be able to work on-site at the firm’s Portland, Oregon office two days per week. Active bar admission in Washington and/or Oregon is required (dual admission preferred).

Key Responsibilities Of Litigation Attorney
- Manage a caseload of civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court filings
- Handle all phases of discovery, including written discovery, document review, and depositions
- Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, and trial proceedings
- Develop case strategy in collaboration with partners and client
- Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel
- Analyze legal issues, assess risk, and provide practical recommendations
- Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and procedural requirements in Washington and/or Oregon
- Support medical malpractice defense matters, as applicable
- Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience
- Active bar admission in Oregon and/or Washington (dual admission a plus)
- Demonstrated ability to manage litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Strong drafting skills, including pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery
- Experience handling depositions, hearings, and mediations
- Medical malpractice defense experience preferred, but not required
- Excellent analytical, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and sound professional judgment
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively with partners, clients, and team members
