Quality Supervisor / Quality Engineer

Job Duties

• Supervision & Leadership: Establish priorities, balance workloads, provide feedback, address performance issues, and promote accountability and teamwork.
• Quality Engineering: Apply engineering and quality principles to manufacturing problems, process changes, new products, tooling, gauges, and inspection requirements.
• Inspection & Measurement: Ensure appropriate measurement methods are selected and that equipment is suitable, calibrated, and used correctly.
• Problem Solving: Facilitate structured problem-solving using tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, Pareto analysis, containment, corrective action, and verification of effectiveness.
• Customer Quality: Respond professionally and promptly to customer quality inquiries and coordinate investigations and corrective actions.
• Documentation & Systems: Maintain accurate quality documentation and support-controlled changes to procedures, forms, inspection records, and quality-system documents.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, error-proofing, process capability, and other improvement initiatives where appropriate.
• Communication: Clearly communicate quality requirements, risks, priorities, and decisions to operators, supervisors, engineers, managers, customers, and suppliers.
• Safety & Compliance: Follow and reinforce applicable safety, quality, environmental, HR, and company policies.
• Other ad hoc duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• ·       Experience supervising or leading Quality Inspectors, and Quality Technicians
• ·       Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, machining, fabrication, metal finishing, or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
• ·       Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other applicable quality-management standards.
• ·       Internal auditor, lead auditor, or quality-management-system auditing experience.
• ·       Experience with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA/Gage R&R, SPC, capability studies, and statistical analysis.
• ·       Experience with CMM, optical measurement, 3D scanning, or other advanced inspection technologies.
• ·       Experience with quality-management or ERP systems and electronic document-control systems.
• ·       Experience using corrective-action methodologies such as 8D, DMAIC, A3, or similar structured approaches.
• ·       Experience working directly with customers and suppliers on technical quality issues.

Education and Experience

• ·       Bachelor’s degree in quality, manufacturing, mechanical, industrial engineering, or related technical field.
• ·       Experience working in metal manufacturing environment desired
• ·       Relevant experience in manufacturing quality, quality engineering, inspection, or a closely related discipline.
• ·       Experience reading engineering drawings and applying GD&T principles.
• ·       Working knowledge of dimensional inspection and common measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical systems, CMMs, or comparable equipment.
• ·       Demonstrated ability to investigate problems, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and verify effectiveness.
• ·       Ability to prioritize multiple quality issues and meet time-sensitive production and customer requirements.
• ·       Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
• ·       Ability to lead, coach, and hold employees accountable while maintaining a professional and collaborative work environment.
• ·       Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
• ·       Ability to work independently, make sound decisions within established authority, and escalate significant risks appropriately.

Level of Responsibility and Authority

• ·       Set priorities and assign Quality resources.
• ·       Place suspect or nonconforming product on hold and establish containment
• ·       Select appropriate inspection and measurement methods within approved requirements.
• ·       Coordinate disposition within established procedures.
• ·       Lead investigations and implement approved actions within assigned authority.
• ·       Assign work, coach employees, monitor performance, and recommend training
• ·       Implement routine improvements that do not conflict with controlled requirements
• ·       Coordinate technical investigations and provide factual status updates
