Patent Litigation Attorney

Lateral Link is working directly with the hiring Partners of an elite Chicago Litigation Boutique on a rare, unposted opportunity for a mid-senior level Patent Litigation Associate with 3-7 years of experience. This position will take on a case leadership role with significant client contact and stand-up opportunities in cutting-edge patent litigation in tech, medical, and other fields.

Requirements:

• Sense of humor is a must!
• Substantial experience with major litigation and patent-lit-specific events, including preparing for Markman hearings, taking depositions and preparing witnesses for depositions, working with experts, preparing and responding to written discovery, and preparing contentions
• Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of patent law
• Strong writing skills and experience briefing discovery issues, Markman, and ideally (but not required) dispositive motions
• JD from top-tier (T-14) law school with excellent academic credentials or finished in the very top of your class (i.e. magna or summa cum laude) at a law school outside the T-14

Preferences:

• Experience arguing substantive motions strongly preferred but not required
• Experience being on a trial team preferred but not required
• A scientific or technical background (e.g., an undergrad degree in a hard science or engineering) is a bonus but not required
• Candidates in Chicago or willing to relocate within 6 months are strongly preferred, but exceptional candidates outside Chicago will be considered on a case by case basis
