We are looking for an experienced Fraud Risk Strategy / Payments Risk Analyst to support risk policy development for QuickBooks Payments and other fintech products.
This role is focused on designing and optimizing fraud risk controls that protect the business while maintaining a seamless experience for legitimate merchants. The ideal candidate should have strong experience in fraud analytics, payment risk management, risk policy design, and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and optimize fraud risk policies for payments and fintech products.
- Balance fraud loss prevention with customer experience, merchant retention, and business growth.
- Conduct risk assessments for emerging fraud threats, new product launches, and evolving customer needs.
- Analyze merchant escalations, chargeback patterns, return anomalies, and risk intervention outcomes.
- Translate analytical findings into actionable policy improvements.
- Evaluate the impact of risk policy changes on fraud reduction, legitimate transaction approval, merchant processing volume, and churn risk.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Customer Experience, and Data Science teams to integrate AI/ML-driven risk decisioning into policy frameworks.
- Present risk insights, trade-offs, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- 4 years of experience in fraud analytics, risk strategy, payment risk management, fintech, banking, or payments.
- Strong understanding of payment ecosystems, including ACH, card networks, chargebacks, and bank verification flows.
- Experience using AI/ML tools or automation frameworks for fraud detection, risk decisioning, and emerging pattern identification.
- Proven ability to design risk policies that balance fraud prevention, customer experience, and business growth.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Customer-first approach with the ability to design controls that protect the platform without creating unnecessary friction for legitimate merchants.
