POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking an Additive Manufacturing Project Engineer to support and expand our 3D printing operations. This role is responsible for managing additive manufacturing projects from concept through delivery while providing technical expertise in 3D printing technologies, process optimization, and operational support.
The ideal candidate combines hands-on experience in additive manufacturing with strong project management skills and the ability to interact with customers.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Additive Manufacturing Engineering
- Evaluate customer requirements and determine the most effective additive manufacturing solutions.
- Prepare, review, and optimize CAD models and print files for production.
- Support LWS’s additive manufacturing lead with the modeling and slicing of complex parts or features
- Select appropriate printing technologies, materials, and post-processing methods based on project requirements.
- Troubleshoot print quality issues and implement process improvements.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
Additive Manufacturing Project Management
- Manage multiple additive manufacturing projects simultaneously, ensuring on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, customers, and internal teams.
- Develop project schedules, track milestones, and coordinate resources.
- Coordinate activities between engineering, manufacturing, quality, and operations teams.
Other
- Assist with quoting, research and development, cost analysis, and project planning as needed.
- Support equipment qualification, maintenance, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities for additive manufacturing solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering technology; alternative degrees will be considered with appropriate demonstrated experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in additive manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, or related engineering disciplines
- Experience managing technical projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of additive manufacturing processes, materials, and production workflows.
- Proficient in 3D modeling; experience with SolidWorks and Siemens NX a plus
- Excellent communication, organizational, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience with CNC and/or robotic motion system programming
- Experience with industrial 3D printing systems.
- Experience working in customer-facing engineering environments.
- Familiarity with quality management systems and regulated manufacturing environments.
