Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented 1st Shift CNC Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will operate and set up CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including milling machines and lathes, to produce precision metal components. Your expertise in CNC programming, blueprint reading, and mechanical knowledge will ensure high-quality production standards are met efficiently. Reports to: Stamping and Fabrication Manager
Hours: 40 hours a week Monday-Friday6:00am-2:30pm plus Weekends / Overtime
Pay: Hourly plus OT
Location: This role is 100% in-person at our Naperville IL facility and requires daily on-site presence to ensure smooth operations and effective collaboration with team members.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provide input to Engineering as to machining design based on manufacturing capabilities
2. Use of Manufacture jigs, fixtures, gauges and dies per job traveler provided by Engineering
3. Interpret blueprints/sketches from verbal/written instructions or from the part to be duplicated or fitted
4. Perform hand operations (using tools of trade) involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.
5. Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures, tools and dies
6. Inspects machined parts for conformance to part specifications during 1st piece, in-process and after final machining
7. Set-up and sharpen drills and tool bits.
8. Plans the repair or modification of non-conforming or damaged, gauges and fixtures when requested by production
9. Maintains records, drawings or other paperwork as required
10. Maintains a clean, orderly and safe working environment
11. May assist Jr. Machinists and set-up/machine operators
12. Perform duties per ISO standards
13. Interpret Travelers and Routings/Data input
14. Full Programming and edits at machine in G-Code
15. MasterCam programming
16. Perform other duties as required by management
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum 5 years’ experience as a CNC Machinist
2. Knowledge of machining methods, materials and operations.
3. Knowledge of industry regulated Safety practices and principles.
4. Knowledge of dimensional inspection and GD&T
5. MasterCam or equivalent programming experience
6. Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, Lawful Permanent Resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1. Must have a working knowledge of machines, how to set-up, program and operate
2. Plan and perform the set-up and operation of all types of machine shop equipment
3. Use a variety of precision inspection equipment such as comparators, gauging tools, micrometers, calipers, height gauges and established surface plate set-ups
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
2. Must be able to stand the entire shift.
