Overview
Laser Technologies is seeking a detail-oriented 2nd Shift Lamination Stack Assembly Operator to join our manufacturing team in Naperville, IL. In this hands-on role, you will set up and operate laser welding equipment, assemble and fit precision fixtures and tooling, interpret engineering drawings and job travelers, and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet quality specifications. You will work closely with Engineering and Production to support the manufacture and repair of precision components while maintaining a safe, organized work environment and following ISO quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience in a machine shop or precision manufacturing environment, strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to producing high-quality work.

This is a 2nd shift position and the hours are Monday-Friday 2:30-11:00pm with Saturday availability required on an as needed basis required as well.

  • Set up jigs, fixtures per job traveler provided by Engineering.
  • Interpret blueprints/sketches from verbal/written instructions or from the part to be duplicated or fitted.
  • Fits and assembles jigs, fixtures.
  • Inspect produced parts for conformance to part specifications during 1st piece, in-process and after final machining.
  • Perform hand operations (using tools of trade) involved in producing jigs, fixtures, tools and dies.
  • Plans the repair or modification of non-conforming or damaged, gauges and fixtures when requested by production. Provide input to Engineering as to machining design based on manufacturing capabilities.
  • Maintain records, drawings or other paperwork as required.
  • Plan and perform the set-up and operation for laser welding
  • May assist machine operators and set-up/machine operators.
  • Perform duties per ISO standards
  • Interpret Travelers and Routings/Data input
  • Maintains a clean, orderly and safe working environment.
  • Perform other duties as required by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have excellent working knowledge of machines, how to set up and operate equipment and fixtures.
  • An understanding in geometry and basic math
  • Knowledge of Laser Welder Theory
  • Knowledge of Bonding procedures
  • Experience with a variety of precision inspection equipment such as comparators, gauging tools, micrometers, calipers, height gauges and established surface plate set-ups.
  • Knowledge of document control
  • Must be able to use hand tools
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR regulations (U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, Lawful Permanent Resident, or protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum two years of machine shop, laser welding, bonding, tooling, fixture, or related manufacturing experience preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have enough manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision work.
  • Must be able to see details at close range.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds from floor to waist.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • May need to reach, bend and twist to perform certain tasks.
  • Must be able to use one or two hands to grasp, move or assemble objects.

Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
