Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for handling all civil entry actions, including setup and papers for service through the Sheriff’s Dept
- Adoptions
- Citations
- Emergency Order of Protections, Interim Orders, and Plenary Orders
- Verified summons and notices; General summons and notices, Summons Dissolutions
- Subpoenas, Subpoenas Duces Tecum
- Wage Deductions, Garnishments
- Orders and Rules
- Summons for disabled persons and guardianships
- Evictions, Replevins
- Responsible for the tracking of witness fees
- Maintain working knowledge of the timeframe and legality of all papers related to the listing above
- Tracks all actions served, including serving information, fees for service and return
- Assist the Civil Process Clerk II with Tax Notices
- Process all Billing for the following actions through the Sheriff’s Dept including:
- Fees for service and return
- Daily payments received
- Monthly statements for clients with service and return fees due
- Weekly audit of payments received
- Responsible for answering telephone call s with Public, att orne ys, a nd oth er counties with rega rd to serv ice,
- Communicates with the public, attorney’s, downtown clerks and dispatch regarding orders of protection.
- Maintains list of attorneys and counties used for billing and return of servi ce
- Responsible for opening/setting up all incoming civil process mail and papers from Circuit Clerk’s Office and the SAO.
- Additional duties/responsibilities:
- Train Clerk I (Floater)
- Maintain working knowledge of all types of papers and the law regarding setup, service and return
- Communicate with Clerical Supervisor, Sheriff and Sheriff’s Department Patrol staff for all special on all special
information regarding specific paper for service (personal service, best time to serve, caution indicators regarding
office safety identified)
- Support Civil Process Clerk II when necessary
- Backup Clerk II with entry of warrants & writs
- Communicate with Sheriff regarding Sheriff’s Deeds
- Sign for all paperwork: DOC orders, Jail Orders and distribute all jail paperwork to the Jail daily.
- Perform related duties as assigned by Clerical Supervisor, Chief Deputy, Undersheriff and Sheriff
- Maintain compliance with all departmental policies and procedures
Performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the County’s Safety Policy and Procedure Manual
- Crosstrain to learn duties of Civil Proce ss Cler k.
- Perform related duties as assigned by Clerical Supervisor, Chief Deputy, Undersheriff and Sheriff
- Maintain compliance with all departmental policies and procedures
- Performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the County’s Safety Policy and Procedure Manual
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- Two to three years practical experience in a clerical or records clerk position, preferred.
- High School Diploma required.
- Must be able to operate office equipment and have experience with Microsoft office programs.
- Verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Capable of working independently with minimal direction.

constantly to lift, carry, push, and pull of objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Close visual acuity required to
perform activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal.
