Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments, including medical and dental histories, to develop personalized treatment plans.
- Perform general dentistry procedures such as dental examinations, cleanings, fillings, crowns, and prosthodontics.
- Carry out advanced treatments including root canal therapy (endodontics), dental extractions, oral surgery, and dental fabrication.
- Utilize dental terminology accurately to communicate diagnoses and treatment options clearly to patients.
- Maintain precise medical documentation and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy.
- Operate dental imaging equipment and interpret results to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Follow strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during all procedures.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry practices to enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
- Keep up-to-date with the latest advancements in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, and related fields through ongoing education.
- Ensure all medical records are complete, accurate, and securely stored in accordance with legal standards.
Skills
- Proficiency in using dental practice management software such as Epic, Eaglesoft, Dentrix or similar systems.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical imaging techniques.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry and providing care for pediatric patients is highly preferred.
- Skilled in performing dental extractions, root canal therapy (endodontics), prosthodontics, and other restorative procedures.
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to assess patient needs compassionately and thoroughly.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic techniques essential for safe practice environments.
- Ability to communicate complex treatment plans clearly to patients of diverse backgrounds.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations regarding protected health information (PHI) and medical records management.
