Senior Counsel - Environmental & Litigation
Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental Counsel to support a range of environmental regulatory and litigation matters impacting business operations. This role may lean more heavily toward regulatory compliance or litigation, depending on need, but will remain focused within the environmental law space. The position is well-suited for an attorney comfortable managing complex matters in a highly regulated environment.
Senior Counsel Responsibilities:
- Support legal matters related to environmental law, regulatory compliance, and environmental litigation.
- Assist with responses to federal and state environmental agency inquiries, investigations, and enforcement actions.
- Provide legal support for contract review and negotiation involving environmental risk, compliance, and liability issues.
- Support and manage environmental and related litigation matters, including cases involving alleged exposure to hazardous materials.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy, regulatory decision‑making, and risk assessment.
- Draft, review, and revise pleadings, motions, discovery materials, and other legal documents.
- Advise on litigation strategy, settlement considerations, and alternative dispute resolution processes.
- Monitor environmental laws, regulations, and litigation trends for potential business impact.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and outside counsel on regulatory and litigation matters.
Senior Counsel Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
- 3-8 years of experience practicing environmental law, including regulatory and/or litigation experience.
- Environmental law experience required; CERCLA and/or state cleanup experience preferred.
- Experience with environmental remediation matters strongly preferred.
- Litigation experience helpful but not required.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast‑paced environment.
- Self‑starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively.
Salary : $160,000 - $260,000
