Join a growing, highly collaborative in-house legal team supporting multiple bank and trust platforms, where you'll play a central role in shaping lending, financing, and deposit strategies. This is a unique opportunity to become the banking and loan counsel on a close-knit team that operates like a boutique law firm within a bank-offering both ownership and hands-on mentorship from senior leadership.
Based in St. Louis and working directly alongside executive leadership (including credit and finance), you'll sit at the center of decision-making for key banking initiatives and transactions.
Responsibilities
You'll be deeply involved in the bank's core business-advising on and executing a wide range of lending, financing, and deposit matters. Your work will span:
- Specialized lending, including private banking, fund/venture lending, and complex credit arrangements
- Treasury management and deposit products, including ACH, wires, and cash management solutions-supporting one of the bank's fastest-growing areas
- Loan workouts, letters of credit, and risk management, helping navigate challenges across the credit lifecycle
- Contracting and vendor management, along with oversight of outside counsel when needed
- You'll also support due diligence, draft and negotiate key agreements, and partner directly with business teams to deliver practical, solutions-oriented legal advice.
Qualifications
- Experience: 3 years in banking, finance, or related legal practice (law firm or in-house)
- Strong experience in banking and finance law, particularly across lending, commercial finance, and real estate transactions
- A working knowledge of bank regulatory frameworks (CFPB, Federal Reserve, FDIC, OCC) and how they impact lending and deposit products
- Proven ability to structure, negotiate, and document loan and financing deals
- A business-minded approach-able to translate legal complexity into clear, actionable guidance
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with strong personalities and cross-functional teams
