Larchwood Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a dedicated and dependable Cook to join our Dietary Services team. The Cook plays a vital role in providing nutritious, appetizing meals that enhance the health, comfort, and quality of life of our residents. Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to approved menus, recipes, and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served in a timely manner while maintaining high quality standards.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and infection control guidelines.
- Monitor food temperatures and maintain accurate records as required.
- Assist with food ordering, inventory management, and proper food storage.
- Work collaboratively with the Dietary Manager, Registered Dietitian, and dietary staff.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
- Accommodate special dietary needs and physician-ordered diets.
- Assist with training and mentoring dietary aides as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous cooking experience in healthcare, long-term care, restaurant, or institutional food service preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Ability to follow recipes and therapeutic diet guidelines.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
