Job Summary:
Our agency is looking for additional amazing people to fill Behavior Interventionist roles at the Laraway School in Johnson, VT so we can accept students on our wait list!
The Behavioral Interventionist will carry dual responsibilities depending on the needs of the students and the class. With supervision and support from the clinical, special education and behavioral leadership staff, the Interventionist will provide therapeutic intervention and academic supports to students in both a one-to-one setting and group milieu.
Accompany our students on adventures such as skiing, hiking, biking, gardening, bowling, and so much more! Our 5-week summer program focuses on relationship building without the educational requirements. Can you say FUN?!
Requirements:
- Positive approach to problem solving
- Previous experience serving youth with socio-emotional challenges
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred; coursework and relevant experience with a strong staff development plan may be considered.
- Successfully clearing (and maintaining clearance) Criminal Background Check
- Valid driver’s license, excellent driving record, and daily access to a safe, reliable, insured vehicle.
- Ability to pass and maintain: First Aid & CPR, Handle with Care 1 & 2, Medication Protocols, UEMR documentation
- Maintain confidentiality requirements of HIPAA & FERPA
- Professionalism and positive youth role model
Work/Physical Requirements:
- Given the at-risk population served, the position requires ongoing training and preparedness in the execution of physical restraint techniques. This may require running to catch a child. The “Handle with Care” training program used articulates that individuals with back and neck limitations are likely to be hampered in the execution of the protocols and greatly increases risk of harm to self or student.
- Ability to engage youth in a variety of activities ranging from art, music, cooking and physical activities such hiking and other outdoor sports.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
