Lapp Tannehill is an industry leader in the distribution of state-of-the-art electrical connectivity products from 200 manufacturers we are experiencing record growth, and in need of an additional Buyer. What You'll Do
Purchasing
- Enters and maintains all purchase orders in our ERP system
- Negotiate price, delivery terms, and quality standards with suppliers
- Provide pricing and delivery schedules to the Sales Department
- Approve and resolve A/P discrepancies; expedite orders and price quotes
- Manage inventory turns to maximize company profitability
- Reduce surplus and obsolete inventory through smart stocking policies
- Maintain a quality program for receivables
Supply Chain
- Optimizes our ERP system to drive improved fill-rate performance
- Explores automation and digitization options across supply chain
- Develop and implement improved processes, reporting, and procedures
Vendor Management
- Identify, develop, and approve new suppliers
- Conduct quarterly vendor performance reviews
- Collaborate with internal teams on demand and supply planning
- Process and maintain corrective action requests
What We're Looking For
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, engineering, business, or related field
- Prior experience in a purchasing or procurement environment preferred
- Strong knowledge of wholesale distribution and the wire & cable industry is a plus
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel capabilities
- Understanding of MRP processes and ERP systems (bills of materials experience a plus)
- Strong analytical skills — comfortable working with financial ratios and business data
- Ability to quickly learn new purchasing systems, processes, and products People & Leadership Skills
- Strong negotiation skills — able to secure favorable terms with manufacturers
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Team collaboration mindset with ability to foster a positive department culture
- Ability to build trust and maintain professional relationships at all levels
- Demonstrates high integrity, problem-solving creativity, and customer focus
