Timber Systems designs, fabricates, and installs heavy timber structures for commercial construction projects across the country. From engineered glulam beams to massive timber frames, our work is built to last—and we need someone who’s ready to help lead in the field.
We’re hiring an Assistant Crew Leader to join our Travel Crew. This is a key role for someone with deep construction experience who’s ready to take on more leadership. You’ll support the Crew Leader, step in to run smaller jobs, and help train newer crew members on what “done right” looks like.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with field supervision, layout, assembly, and job site coordination
- Lead smaller-scale installs when the Crew Leader is unavailable
- Train new hires on tools, layout, rigging, and site expectations
- Collaborate on problem-solving, sequencing, and installation prep
- Keep the job site moving, safe, and aligned with Timber Systems standards
Travel Requirements
- Out-of-state travel is required: 2–3 weeks on-site, 1 weekend home
- Lodging meals are covered via per diem
- You must be ready for early mornings, physical work, and consistent travel
What You’ll Need
- 3–5 years of construction or framing experience
- Ability to read blueprints, perform layout, and assist with rigging
- Familiarity with aerial lift operation and signaling (certifications provided)
- Strong communication and leadership presence on site
- High school diploma or GED
- Comfortable working at height

- If you’re not comfortable traveling for up to 3 weeks at a time

Pay & Benefits
- Pay: $29.00–$34.00/hr based on experience
- Per Diem: Covers lodging food while traveling
- Job Type: Full-time, 100% travel-based (starts and ends in Lapeer, MI)
