DEPARTMENT: Accounting & Finance
JOB TITLE: Accounting Generalist
REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager
SUPERVISES: n/a
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
This position will primarily assist in handling guest call and inquiries regarding charges and assist in researching and responding back in a timely manner. This position will also assist in various tasks throughout the accounting department including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivables and month end processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
Handle guest calls and inquiries, research charge back and respond in a timely manner to avoid loss in revenue.
Assist General Cashier in opening cash envelopes and conducting house bank audits if necessary.
Responsible for maintaining and updating contracts, permits and licenses log on regular basis.
Review contract, permits and license file regularly and advise Director of Finance, Hotel Controller, department head related to any expiring contracts, permits and licenses with sufficient time before expiration.
Assist Accounts Payable in posting when necessary.
Assists Accounts Receivables Manager in some billing if necessary.
Research charge back and respond in a timely manner to avoid loss in revenue.
Assists and conduct month end inventories as requested by purchasing manager.
Assists Hotel Controller and Accounting Manager during month end close.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance, Hotel Controller and Accounting Manager.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work in an office environment – primary sitting down during the entire shift
Requires repetitive motion of hands and wrists.
SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Must have the ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner.
Prefer previous experience and knowledge of OPERA
Ability to operate a 10-key by touch.
Prefer previous knowledge of accounting operations to include all aspects such as accounts receivable, etc.
Proficient in Excel and Word
Effective Communication skills both oral and written
EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High School degree or GED
Degree in Accounting preferred
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Prefer 1-2 years experience in hotel accounting
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:
None needed.
SALARY:
$30.79 - $32.79
