Tax Staff Accountant

Experienced Tax Preparer

Location: San Diego, CA (In-Office/Hybrid considered for the right candidate)
Employment Type: Full-Time (Part-Time may be considered for the right candidate)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Tax Preparer to join our growing CPA firm. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and enjoys working with closely held businesses and high-net-worth individuals. This position offers the opportunity to work directly with experienced CPAs in a collaborative, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

·         CPA license preferred, but not required

·         Minimum 3–5 years of recent public accounting experience

·         Strong experience preparing:

o   Form 1065 – Partnership Returns

o   Form 1120S – S Corporation Returns

o   High-net-worth Form 1040 Individual Returns

·         Ability to identify tax issues and communicate them effectively

·         Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·         Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines during busy season

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

·         Multi-state tax returns

·         Tax planning concepts

·         Experience with Lacerte (preferred)

·         Experience with QuickBooks Online/Desktop

·         Familiarity with Canopy, TaxPlanIQ, or similar tax workflow software is a plus

Responsibilities

·         Prepare and review business and individual income tax returns

·         Organize and analyze client financial information

·         Research tax issues and assist with tax planning opportunities

·         Communicate with clients to obtain missing information

·         Work closely with partners and other team members to deliver high-quality client service

·         Assist with extensions, estimates, and year-round tax projects
