Asphalt Luteman
M.T. Laney Co. Inc. is an established, successful construction firm located in Eldersburg, MD. We are seeking an Asphalt Luteman to join our paving crew. The Asphalt Luteman assists with the placement and finishing of asphalt on roadways, parking lots, and driveways using hand tools such as rakes and shovels in the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area.
The ideal candidate is a team player who is highly motivated, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to join a skilled construction team.
Responsibilities
- Rake, lute, and shovel asphalt and other materials as needed.
- Assist in preparing surfaces for paving operations.
- Finish paved surfaces by smoothing and tamping asphalt to the required grade and thickness.
- Assist with traffic control activities as needed.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Essential Requirements
- Knowledge of the asphalt paving process.
- Ability to follow directions from the foreman and other crew members.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying and extreme weather conditions.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work.
- Must be able to pass a drug screening.
Employment Status and Compensation
- Full-Time, Non-Exempt Position
- Compensation based on knowledge, experience, and qualifications.
Working Conditions
- Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
- Frequent exposure to construction-related noise, dust, fumes, and grease.
- Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work performed on active construction sites and varying terrain.
Working Hours and Expectations
- Ability to work more than 40 hours per week as needed.
- Availability to work weekends and overtime when required.
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and work on uneven terrain.
- Frequent bending, twisting, lifting, and prolonged standing.
- Regular use of hands to handle, grasp, and operate tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- Asphalt paving experience preferred.
