Position: Assistant Professor of Chemistry
Reports to: Division Chair Classification:
Exempt Core Responsibilities: Teaching 12 credit hours and academic advising. Lane College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry to teach General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and/or Quantitative Analysis
Responsibilities:
- Teaching 12 credit hours each semester.
- Advising.
- Participating in department activities.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high- stress situations.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- The Chemistry Department emphasizes using active-learning to create an inclusive environment for a diverse student body.
Qualifications:
Qualifications and Experience:
- Doctorate in Chemistry is preferred.
- Candidates with a Master's degree and 18 credit hours in Chemistry will be considered.
- The ideal candidate will have familiarity with Blackboard, hybrid courses, and the ability to utilize innovative modalities for delivering course content.
- Some walking, climbing stairs, sitting and standing for long period of time.
- Ability to lift 10lbs. 1% of the time
