Summary/Objective
The Irrigation Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of customers’ irrigation and landscape lighting systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and effectively. This role focuses on optimizing water usage, reducing electrical waste, and maintaining the overall health and appearance of the landscape while meeting customer expectations and company standards.
Essential Functions
Overall Responsibilities/Duties
- Understands contract specifications and ensures all terms are met while maintaining complete customer satisfaction.
- Installs, programs, and troubleshoots irrigation systems, including controllers, valves, sprinkler heads, and drip systems.
- Installs and maintains landscape lighting systems, including wiring, fixtures, timers, and transformers.
- Performs irrigation audits and site evaluations to assess system performance, coverage, and water usage.
- Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs irrigation system issues such as leaks, pressure problems, electrical faults, and coverage gaps.
- Performs preventative maintenance on irrigation and lighting systems to reduce breakdowns and extend system life.
- Monitors and adjusts irrigation schedules based on seasonal changes, weather conditions, and plant needs.
- Maintains proper inventory of materials, equipment, and supplies required to complete daily tasks.
- Communicates with the Operations Manager regarding billing, property issues, and service updates.
- Responds promptly to customer concerns and service requests to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Maintains vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working conditions.
- Maximizes the use of materials and resources while minimizing waste and unnecessary costs.
- Maintains a safe working environment and enforces all safety standards, protocols, and regulations.
- Ensures all work meets company quality standards and supports the overall health and appearance of the landscape.
- Completes accurate field reports, service logs, and documentation, ensuring proper communication between field and office.
- Manages and tracks warranty work, ensuring timely completion and minimal rework.
- Coordinates and executes all daily tasks and requests from the Operations Manager.
- Assists with training crew members in proper irrigation practices and equipment use as needed.
- Stays informed on new irrigation technologies, water conservation methods, and industry best practices.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates primarily on job sites.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 4 PM. Hours are subject to change, as this position interacts with office and field.
Travel
This position may require overnight travel, depending on operational needs. Extensive driving may be required. Please note: Smoking in company trucks is not permitted.
Required Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma or equivalent required
2. Minimum of 3 years of irrigation experience
3. Basic computer and mobile technology skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, or similar systems)
Preferred Education and Experience
1. Certifications in Landscape Maintenance and/or Irrigation preferred.
2. Experience with irrigation controllers (e.g., Hunter, Rain Bird) preferred.
