Alumni Relations Manager Job Type: Full-time Description Position Title: Alumni Relations Manager Location: Landmark School, Beverly and Manchester, MA Reports to: Director of Institutional Advancement Position Type: Full time, 40 hours/week, 12 months Mission and Background Landmark is a coeducational, multi-campus, approved Massachusetts Chapter 766 Private Day and Boarding school enrolling students in grades 2-12 diagnosed with dyslexia or another language-based learning disability (LBLD). These fall under the broader category of specific learning disabilities (SLD). Landmark’s unique, individualized approach empowers students to reach their academic and social potential. Summary The Alumni Relations Manager is responsible for the strategic planning, management, and execution of programs that strengthen engagement between Landmark School and its alumni community. With a primary focus on cultivating relationships through personalized outreach, events, volunteer engagement, and communications, the Manager plays a vital role in building lifelong connections that advance alumni engagement, loyalty, and philanthropic investment in Landmark’s mission. Key Responsibilities Alumni Engagement Develop and lead a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that fosters lifelong relationships with Landmark and promotes alumni involvement as volunteers, advocates, and donors. Cultivate alumni pride through facilitating alumni’s ongoing involvement with school traditions and values, creating vibrant and practical ties with Landmark’s current student body and its faculty and staff. Design and implement professional networking, affinity-based, and regional programs that connect alumni with each other and with the school. Serve as one of the primary points of contact for alumni, building trust and enthusiasm for ongoing participation and support. Fundraising and Alumni Giving Serve as a frontline fundraiser for the Advancement Office, with primary responsibility for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from alumni to support the Landmark Fund and other school priorities. Identify and qualify potential alumni donors for leadership annual gifts and major gift portfolios. Personally manage a portfolio of alumni prospects, conducting regular outreach, visits, and follow-up to deepen engagement and grow financial support. Partner closely with the Advancement team to create and execute alumni-specific fundraising events, appeals, communications, and stewardship programs. Collaborate with Advancement colleagues to strengthen the culture of philanthropy among alumni through storytelling, recognition, and targeted messaging. Event Management Plan, execute, and lead the strategy of alumni events such as, but not limited to reunions, regional alumni gatherings, the Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony (biannually, in collaboration with the Athletics Department), and other milestone celebrations. Integrate fundraising and stewardship opportunities into key events and communications. Partner with campus departments to integrate and coordinate alumni engagement into school-wide events and programs. Communications Develop and oversee a multi-channel communication strategy for alumni audiences. Create compelling alumni stories and features that highlight alumni achievements and shared values. Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure consistent, mission-driven messaging. Alumni Council Lead and support the Alumni Council, serving as a strategic advisor to ensure alignment with the Council's charter and objectives, including volunteerism and networking. Facilitate regular Council meetings, prepare agendas, and align Council initiatives with institutional priorities. Recruit, onboard, and support Council members in their roles as ambassadors for Landmark School. Cross-Departmental Collaboration Actively coordinate with key departments such as College and Career Counseling, Student Life, Community, Culture and Wellness, Athletics, and Marketing and Communications to promote and facilitate alumni involvement in collaborative programs and events. Advancement Team Leadership Serve as a key member of the Advancement team, contributing to the strategic direction and execution of the school’s fundraising and community engagement efforts. Participate in Advancement events and programs for the broader Landmark community, including those for parents, faculty, and students. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree required. Minimum five years in alumni relations, development, volunteer management, or related field, with demonstrated success in frontline fundraising. Strong written and oral communication skills and a professional manner. Ability to effectively interface with constituents in a school environment including faculty, staff, students, board members, alumni and parents. Skilled in diplomacy, tact, maturity, discretion and the ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality. Meticulous organizational, project and time management and event planning skills. Must have the ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a highly collaborative atmosphere. Experience in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom. A willingness to work nights and weekends for scheduled community events. Final compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, relevant experience, education, and alignment with Landmark School’s pay framework for internal equity.
