POSITION SUMMARY:

The Director of Technology provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the Bank’s technology infrastructure, systems, support services, vendor relationships, access governance, and technology initiatives. This role develops and executes the Bank’s technology roadmap, leads the Information Technology team, manages technology budgets and vendor relationships, and partners across the organization to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable technology solutions that support business objectives, regulatory expectations, employee productivity, positive customer experience, and organizational performance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Strategic Technology Leadership

  • Develop and execute a multi-year technology roadmap aligned with the Bank’s strategic objectives, industry trends, emerging risks, innovation opportunities, and executive leadership priorities.
  • Recommend and maintain the appropriate balance of outsourced and internally managed technology responsibilities to optimize service quality, cost effectiveness, accountability, risk management, and organizational capability
  • Establish departmental goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and technology standards.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, automation, and advanced analytics, and recommend opportunities that improve operational effectiveness, productivity, risk management, customer experience, and business performance.
  • Support the implementation and governance of artificial intelligence technologies and related controls to ensure alignment with business objectives, information security standards, regulatory expectations, and ethical use requirements.

Leadership and Talent Development

  • Hire, develop, coach, retain and lead the Information Technology team.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, service excellence, continuous improvement, innovation, and professional development.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and accountability measures and address any deficiencies in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize resources and workloads to effectively support business needs and organizational objectives.

Technology Operations Excellence and Infrastructure

  • Oversee the performance, availability, reliability, and scalability of the Bank's technology infrastructure, network environment, telecommunications, hardware, software, and related systems.
  • Ensure efficient, timely, high-quality IT support services that mitigate risk and meet employee needs across the organization.
  • Lead technology projects, system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate technology incident management, root-cause analysis, disaster recovery testing, and business continuity support activities.
  • Maintain operational excellence through effective change-management, documentation, monitoring, and service delivery practices.
  • Ensure technology systems, services, data quality practices, and system integrations are accurate, reliable, available, and well documented.
  • Maintain strong technology governance, documentation, and audit readiness.
  • Drive execution and accountability in a regulated banking environment.

Information Security and Access Governance

  • Partner with Risk Management, Compliance, and business leaders to support cybersecurity initiatives, technology risk management processes and appropriate governance, oversight, and risk management practices related to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
  • Maintain accountability for enterprise access governance, including user provisioning, deprovisioning, role-based access controls, privileged access oversight, and periodic access reviews.
  • Ensure consistent access management standards and practices are maintained across enterprise systems.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, risk assessments, and remediation efforts related to technology controls.

Vendor and Financial Management

  • Lead and own relationships with technology vendors, managed service providers, consultants, and technology partners, including business reviews, expected outcomes, supplier performance expectations, accountability measures, and overall relationship governance.
  • Evaluate outsourced service provider performance, internal team capabilities, and strategically lead value-added reseller relationships to optimize service quality, cost effectiveness, accountability, technology spend, licensing, procurement strategy, and contract value, and overall vendor performance.
  • Monitor vendor performance and ensure compliance with service level expectations and contractual obligations.
  • Develop, manage, and administer the Information Technology budget, including operational expenses, capital expenditures, software licensing, and technology investments, ensuring responsible stewardship of resources and adherence to approved budget allocations.
  • Evaluate and recommend technology investments that improve operational efficiency, security, scalability, and business performance.

Operational Excellence

  • Serve as the primary liaison between Information Technology, executive leadership, and business units to understand operational needs, identify technology solutions, and communicate initiatives, risks, priorities, and project status to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Make strategic and operational decisions using data, risk assessments, business objectives, cost considerations, regulatory requirements, and accountability for departmental and organizational outcomes.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable banking regulations, technology controls, cybersecurity expectations, industry best practices, Bank policies, governance standards, and access governance requirements, and support related examinations, audits, reviews, and remediation efforts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and strengthen operational effectiveness.
  • Maintain reliable and predictable onsite and remote work attendance to meet business and customer needs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position is responsible for leading, coaching, developing, and managing assigned team members. Responsibilities include workforce planning, hiring, onboarding, performance management, Associate development, succession planning, Associate engagement, retention, recognition, and addressing performance concerns in partnership with Human Resources.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This job operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office and technology-related equipment. This position may occasionally require work outside normal business hours to support technology implementations, maintenance, system upgrades, or incident response.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to sit for long periods of time on a regular basis and is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The associate may occasionally lift or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:

Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday. Associates are expected to work a regular full-time schedule, with flexibility in start and end times between the hours of 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, consistent with business and customer needs. This position may occasionally require additional hours, including evenings or weekends.

This position may require after-hours support, extended hours, evenings, weekends, or off-hours availability to address system outages, technology incidents, scheduled maintenance, upgrades, implementations, or other operational needs performed outside normal business hours.

TRAVEL:

This position occasionally requires local travel between Bank locations and may require limited out-of-state travel, including overnight stays for conferences, training, vendor meetings, or other business-related purposes.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:

  • Ten (10) years of progressive Information Technology experience preferred, including technology infrastructure, systems administration, support services, vendor management, cybersecurity coordination, technology operations, technology strategy, roadmaps, governance, audits, examinations, information security initiatives, and access management processes
  • Three (3) years of leadership or management experience with responsibility for supervising technology teams and managing departmental priorities is preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge of FFIEC guidance and banking regulatory expectations related to technology governance, information security, cybersecurity, business continuity, disaster recovery, third-party risk management, access controls, audit readiness, and examination support preferred
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, or supporting emerging technologies, automation solutions, artificial intelligence tools, and digital transformation initiatives preferred
  • Strong project management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products and business technology applications
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Business Administration, or a related field required; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CRISC, ITIL, PMP or other relevant technology certifications preferred
