Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Hydroexcavation Supervisor to lead and oversee hydroexcavation operations on construction, SUE, and pipeline projects. In this role, you will supervise a team of operators and technicians, ensure safety compliance, and coordinate excavation activities using specialized equipment. Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, mechanical systems, and construction site management will drive project success while maintaining the highest safety standards. Responsibilities
- Supervise daily hydroexcavation activities, ensuring efficient and safe operation of equipment such as excavators, vacuum trucks, and hydraulic tools
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to plan excavation tasks aligned with project timelines and specifications
- Oversee the operation of heavy machinery including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tanker trucks while adhering to OSHA safety standards
- Ensure all team members follow safety protocols related to oil rig operations, pipeline work, horizontal drilling, and construction site procedures
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment for mechanical issues; perform or coordinate maintenance as needed to minimize downtime
- Train and mentor crew members on proper rigging techniques, equipment handling, and safety practices specific to hydroexcavation and oil & gas environments
- Maintain detailed records of daily operations, safety incidents, equipment usage, and project progress
Skills
- Extensive experience operating heavy equipment such as hydroexcavators, trucks, and skidsteers in construction or oil & gas settings
- Strong mechanical knowledge related to hydraulic systems, rigging procedures, and equipment troubleshooting
- Proven ability to supervise teams in high-pressure environments with a focus on safety compliance under OSHA regulations
- Knowledge of pipeline installation processes, horizontal directional drilling techniques, and underground utility work
- Familiarity with construction site protocols including OSHA standards for excavation work and confined space entry
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with tanker endorsement preferred for driving specialized vehicles
- Ability to read technical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals related to oil rig operations and pipeline projects
