Maintenance Technician - Carpentry Specialist

Job Overview:

The Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned properties including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. 

Perform all duties in accordance with company operating policies.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Perform apartment turnover work with an emphasis on carpentry repairs and finishes (doors, cabinets, trim, drywall, etc.), along with painting, cleaning, and general maintenance.
• Complete work orders promptly—typically within 24 hours—ensuring high-quality workmanship.
• Diagnose and repair maintenance issues across multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, appliances, and HVAC systems.
• Execute preventative maintenance on building systems such as plumbing, heating, cooling, and mechanical equipment.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls (including evenings, weekends, and holidays) based on priority.
• Assist with seasonal operations such as snow removal and other property needs.
• Support moving, installation, and handling of materials such as appliances, tools, and HVAC equipment.
• Ensure vacant units are move-in ready, fully functional, and maintained to high standards.
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members on additional property projects, including light construction and carpentry upgrades.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Proven carpentry experience (framing, finishing, cabinetry, drywall, or similar skills strongly preferred).
• Working knowledge of general maintenance systems (basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC).
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a team-oriented mindset.
• Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional schooling or follow-up trade schooling preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of multi-family maintenance, construction, or trade (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, etc.) experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to regularly sustain prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Possess ability to regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, lift equipment, use hands to fingers, reach with arms and hands, handle objects, tools, and equipment.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to work in all types of weather.
