This role will focus on overseeing tax compliance for the Non-US Fund business, ensuring adherence to U.S. tax regulations and global compliance standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with IRS requirements for WFP and NWFP entities under Sections 1441, 1446, and related regulations.
- Oversee the preparation and review of Forms 1042, 1042-S, 8804, 8805, and other applicable filings.
- Manage the IRS 301/302 withholding for global funds.
- Own and maintain global tax requirements, including Backup withholding, Capital gains, and return of capital classifications.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external service providers to ensure accurate withholding and reporting.
- Design and maintain processes for monitoring investor classifications and treaty eligibility.
- Stay current on U.S. and global tax law changes impacting foreign partnerships, non-US funds, and withholding obligations.
- Advise on structuring strategies for offshore feeder funds to enhance operational efficiency.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate tax compliance risks across offshore structures.
- Establish robust internal controls and documentation standards to support audits and regulatory reviews.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for WFP or NWFP compliance within the organization.
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on tax compliance requirements.
- Lead and contribute to ad hoc projects supporting the firm’s strategic tax initiatives.
- Participate in industry working groups to drive industry change and uplift industry best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- 7 years of relevant experience, preferably with a financial institution, asset manager, or Big 4 accounting firm.
- A CPA designation or a master’s degree in taxation is strongly preferred.
- Able to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
- Highly organized, self-driven, and detail-oriented with the ability to maintain a strategic perspective.
