Payroll Manager

Company Overview:

A global alternative investment firm with approximately $22 billion in assets under management focuses on special situations, private equity, and opportunistic credit. The firm is seeking a Payroll Manager to manage and process payroll functions with accuracy and efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

• Own, prepare, and validate payroll for over 150 US employees across multiple states on a semi-monthly/monthly basis
• Oversight of outsourced payroll functions of UK, Japan, and Spain operations, including monthly reconciliation of payroll entries within the GL
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
• Maintain and update payroll records, including tax information, direct deposit changes, and employee status changes
• Collaborate with HR and Finance departments to ensure consistency and accuracy of data, including quarterly reconciliations for benefits, 401 (k), and other payroll amounts
• Own the payroll process front to back by working with the finance team on employee compensation entries for the monthly close process
• Improve current payroll processes and systems, and oversee the planning and implementation of a new payroll system
• Partner with HR for all new employee offers and compensation changes to ensure accurate records and forecasting
• Lead 401 (k) administration and audit
  
  

Qualifications:

• 7 years of related work experience
• Familiarity with all aspects of the payroll process and the associated impact on the general ledger accounts
• Proficient with software applications, particularly Excel (Pivot tables, Lookups, etc.) and HRIS systems
• Solid understanding of general ledger and monthly reconciliations of HR/Payroll systems
• BA/BS in accounting or finance preferred
  
  

Compensation:

Salary: $130,000 – $140,000
