Associate General Counsel – Banking Payments & Embedded Finance

Company Overview:

A fast-growing financial technology company is reshaping global finance with innovative embedded payments, cards, and lending products. They are seeking an Associate General Counsel to lead legal strategies in banking, payments, and embedded finance.

Job Responsibilities:

• Lead clients and internal stakeholders through the full new product development lifecycle
• Participate in client-facing meetings and partner negotiations
• Negotiate complex partner agreements and vendor contracts
• Draft partner agreements, product terms, and client-facing documentation
• Work cross-functionally with risk, compliance, operations, and product teams
• Advise on BaaS program structuring and regulatory compliance
• Build and improve scalable legal processes and tools
• Oversee and manage outside counsel
• Mentor and develop legal team members
• Align legal strategy with business growth
• Draft complex agreements under tight timelines
• Lead negotiations with fintech partners and institutional clients
• Provide clear, actionable guidance on complex legal concepts
  
  

Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate degree required; admission to a U.S. state bar in good standing (NY/NJ preferred)
• MBA or equivalent business experience preferred
• 15 years of legal experience in financial services and/or payments technology
• In-house experience at a bank, fintech company, card network, or payments company required
  
  

Compensation: Salary: $275,000 – $340,000
