Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the executive team, responsible for overseeing all financial operations, strategic planning, project accounting, and risk management. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in construction or land development finance and understands the unique challenges of job costing, project lifecycle management, and cash flow forecasting in a project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting activities
- Oversee job costing, WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting, and project profitability analysis
- Manage cash flow, bonding capacity, and capital structure to support growth
- Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with organizational goals
- Maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, sureties, and lenders
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls
- Supervise accounting, finance, and administrative teams
- Provide actionable insights to support bidding, pricing, and project selection decisions
- Evaluate and mitigate financial risk across projects and overall business operations
- Lead due diligence for acquisitions, partnerships, and large-scale developments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
- 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience; CFO or Controller-level experience required
- Strong background in construction, land development, or real estate finance
- Expertise in project accounting, job costing, and construction-specific ERP systems
- Proven ability to manage complex cash flows and multi-project financials
- Experience working with bonding companies and financial institutions
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills
