Job Summary:
- The Transmission Project Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the execution of transmission line and substation capital projects.
- The role provides leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout activities.
- The Project Manager is accountable for project scope, schedule, budget, risk management, stakeholder coordination, and overall project delivery success.
Key Responsibilities Project Execution & Leadership
- Lead transmission line and substation capital projects from initiation through closeout.
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, construction, outage planning, operations, land, environmental, finance, and stakeholder activities.
- Direct cross-functional project teams and vendors.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Schedule & Cost Management
- Work with Project Controls team to develop and manage project schedules.
- Monitor project progress and key milestones.
- Analyze project performance and forecast potential schedule or budget risks.
- Work with Project Controls team to track costs, support variance analysis, and provide financial reporting. Risk Management
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Escalate critical issues requiring management decisions.
- Lead project change management processes.
- Conduct post-project reviews and share lessons learned. Stakeholder Management
- Communicate project status to leadership and stakeholders.
- Build relationships with engineering, construction, operations, customers, contractors, and regulatory groups.
- Facilitate resolution of project conflicts and competing priorities.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of engineering, construction, outage coordination, permitting, land acquisition, and regulatory processes.
- Experience with project scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Tool Suite including calendar management, Power Point presentations, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Experience managing transmission line and substation projects is a plus.
- Understanding of transmission systems and utility operations is a plus.
- Familiarity with utility project gated processes and capital project governance is a plus.
- Familiarity with Oracle financial applications, and Primavera schedules is a plus. Leadership Competencies
