Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and dependable General Sonographer to provide mobile ultrasound services throughout the Huntsville and Birmingham, Alabama areas. The technologist will travel to nursing homes, home care facilities, correctional facilities, and other designated locations to perform physician-ordered ultrasound examinations using portable equipment.

This position is ideal for a self-motivated professional who can work independently, produce high-quality diagnostic images, and provide compassionate patient care in a mobile healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform ECHO and vascular ultrasound examinations using portable sonographic equipment.

- Travel to assigned healthcare facilities and patient locations using a company-provided vehicle.

- Obtain clinically diagnostic images and transmit completed studies electronically to radiologists for interpretation.

- Verify physician orders and confirm patient identity using two approved identifiers before performing examinations.

- Review examination requests and resolve discrepancies before proceeding with imaging.

- Coordinate with dispatch, facility staff, radiologists, and supervisors regarding assignments and patient needs.

- Monitor dispatch communications and respond to urgent messages within the required timeframe.

- Complete examination documentation, billing paperwork, and related records accurately and promptly.

- Maintain ultrasound equipment and the company vehicle, reporting malfunctions immediately.

- Follow infection control, patient privacy, medical ethics, and workplace safety requirements.

- Complete required medical examinations, TB screening, and annual infection control training.

- Participate in meetings, training, and other assigned duties.

- Maintain professional communication with patients, facility staff, dispatch teams, and supervisors.

Required Qualifications

- ARDMS or CCI registration for vascular ultrasound required.

- Experience and competency in both ECHO and Vascular ultrasound required.

- Graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound Technology program.

- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements.

- Ability to travel between assigned facilities and work independently with minimal supervision.

- Basic smartphone and computer skills, including scanning, printing, and emailing documents.

- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to lift and carry an equipment bag weighing approximately 18–20 lbs and transport equipment using a wheeled cart.

- Ability to complete required background checks, drug screening, and health requirements.

- COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption documentation, as required by the employer.

Certification note: Required credentials must be maintained, and supporting documentation must be provided when requested. Limited licenses are not accepted.

Schedule & Additional Details

- Regular schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

- Weekend work may be required based on caseload and is treated as overtime.

- On-call requirements will be discussed during the interview.

- A company vehicle is provided.

- State licensure reimbursement is available after 90 days of employment, subject to company policy.
