At Lancaster Rec, we are seeking responsible and attentive Lifeguards to join our team for the summer season. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety of our guests while they enjoy our pool facilities. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor swimmers, enforce pool rules, and respond quickly and effectively in case of emergencies. Position Highlights
- Pay: $12.00 – $15.00 per hour
- Schedule: Part-time, seasonal (expected 32 hours per week), Monday-Friday with Weekends as needed
- Location: In-person (Conestoga Pines Pool, Lancaster, PA)
What You’ll Do
Lifeguard & Safety Responsibilities
- Monitor pool areas and surrounding spaces to ensure guest safety.
- Enforce all pool rules and regulations to create a safe environment.
- Act swiftly and effectively in emergency situations, providing first aid or rescue procedures as needed.
- Administer swim tests to children whose swimming ability is in question.
- Report repeat rule offenders and unsafe conditions to the Pool Manager.
- Temporarily close the pool due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions and remain on-call for reopening.
Facility & Operational Support
- Perform opening duties, including cleaning the pool, checking chemical levels, and removing trash or hazards.
- Assist with pool pass monitoring and guest admissions.
- Keep records of chemical readings, pool usage, weather conditions, and any injuries.
- Maintain cleanliness in bathrooms, deck areas, and concession stands as needed.
- Monitor inventory levels of chemicals, cleaning, and janitorial supplies and report needs to the Pool Manager.

What We’re Looking For
Certified Lifeguard: Confident in water safety and rescue techniques - must already be certified.
Reliable & Responsible: Ability to enforce rules while remaining friendly and approachable.
Attention to Detail: Constantly aware of surroundings to prevent accidents and emergencies.
Team Player: Works well with staff and management to maintain a safe and welcoming facility.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Certifications: Must present valid Lifeguarding, CPR, and First Aid certifications* (American Red Cross preferred).
- Experience: At least 1 year of lifeguarding experience preferred.
- Uniform Requirement: Must wear a whistle and designated lifeguard uniform at all times.
