What are the responsibilities and job description for the Correctional Officer position at Lancaster County Government?
CORRECTIONAL OFFICERUnder general supervision, performs a variety of duties which ensure the discipline, safety & security of inmates sentenced to the confinement of the County Detention Center; receives & processes prisoners coming into the facility by completing appropriate forms & paperwork, recording identifying information, searches prisoners, logs & stores personal items, fingerprints & photographs prisoners; as well as other related duties.
Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent certificate. Must be 18 yrs. of age. Must be able to successfully complete the SC Criminal Justice Academy within first year of employment & pass the physical requirements set forth by the SCCJA. Must pass an extensive background check & have a valid driver’s license.
