The Shelter Manager oversees the daily operat i ons of the animal shelter, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, staff leadership, customer service, safety, and operational efficiency. This position provides direct supervi s ion to shelter staff and volunteers while supporting the organization's mission through c o mpassionate animal care, effective team management , community engagement , and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.

- Supervise, train, coach, schedule, and eval u ate shelter staff and volunteers.
- Provide leadership and direction to ensure staff understand and support the organization's mission, values, and Standard Operating Procedure
- Promote a positive, respectful , and team-oriented work environment.
- Address employee concerns, performance issues, and disciplinary matters in accordance with organizational policies.
- Ensure appropriate staffing coverage and coordinate scheduling adjustments for absences, emergencies, and operational needs.
- Conduct staff meetings, trainings , and ongoing development initiatives.
- Maintain accurate employee documentation and communicate personnel matters with executive leadership as appropriate .
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the s h elter and ensure efficient workflow throughout all departments.
- Manage animal intake, wait lists, adoptions, t ransfers, foster placements, and transport coordination.
- Participate in strategic planning , policy development, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and organizational regulations related to shelter operations and animal welfare.
- Bachelor's degree preferred in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of related experience required.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or management experience preferred.
- Experience in animal welfare, shelter operations, nonprofit management , customer service , healthcare, or related fields strongly preferred.
