What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part-Time Nutrition Worker position at Lamoille North Supervisory Union?

Objective: To perform a variety of skilled tasks in food preparation, cooking, and presentation. In addition, completing state and USDA mandated records as needed.Duties & Responsibilities; to include but not limited to: Perform a wide range of cooking tasks associated with the preparation of student meals. Ensure that foods are maintained at proper temperatures for storing and preserving. Ensure that established health and safety procedures are followed and keep abreast of changing requirements.

Monitor all foods for quality of taste, texture and appearance. Plan following weeks menu requirements and thaw food products accordingly. Verify nutritional values of meals served. Standardize portion sizes.

Keep all food and supply storage areas clean and organized. Comply with all state sanitation guideline requirements to include, but not limited to, keeping all aspects of your person clean, keeping outer garments clean at all times, as well as using caps, hairnets, headbands, pins and/or other hair restraints while engaged in handling food, drink, utensils, and/or kitchen equipment. Computer Skills and Experience: Proficient computer skills. Able to effectively and efficiently use database programs, spreadsheets and word processing programs. Experience with Google Suite preferred. Leadership Skills: Creates a culture of trust and caring.

Provides a strategic vision of future goals and objectives. Demonstrates high standards of ethics and fairness. Assumes responsibility for one's own actions. Able to effectively encourage and motivate staff.

Contributes to a positive work environment. Able to build positive relationships.Qualifications: Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent with training in culinary arts plus one to two years of relevant institutional cooking experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Broad base of knowledge and skills in quantity food handling, preparation and cooking. Good understanding of institutional kitchen operations/management.

Familiarity with public school hot lunch programs desirable.Supervision Received: Works with LNSU staff and faculty, Administration, and students of all ages.
