Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, the Shop Foreman will carry out the following duties:
· Diagnose and repair diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drivetrains, brake systems, steering systems, suspension systems, and electrical components.
· Perform preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled servicing on school buses and support vehicles.
· Be accountable for all tools, parts and equipment issued.
· Conduct state and federal safety inspections and ensure compliance with all transportation regulations.
· Maintain accurate service records, repair documentation, and maintenance logs.
· Respond to vehicle breakdowns and perform emergency repairs as needed.
· Ensure all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications.
· Assist with the completion of maintenance requests, monthly inspections and repair orders.
· Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment.
· Participate in training programs to increase skills and proficiency in areas related to assignments.
· Complete assignments on time and in compliance with directions.
· Follow and enforce school rules, administrative regulations and Board policy as well as federal and state laws.
· Drive bus routes as needed.
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years minimum, four years preferable, automotive or diesel mechanic experience.
- Must hold or acquire a valid Georgia Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with P, S endorsements.
- General knowledge of automotive and diesel repair.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and efficiently.
- Be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, sit, climb and lift items of approximately 50 pounds throughout the workday.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
