Status: Part-Time (20 hours a week)

JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for assisting with the operation of County recreation programs, athletic events, and recreational facilities. The Recreation Program Attendant provides support during games, practices, and special events; assists with concession stand operations; helps maintain clean, safe, and organized parks and facilities; and performs limited office and customer service duties as needed. The position plays an important role in providing quality recreation services and ensuring a positive experience for participants and visitors.

MAJOR DUTIES

· Assists with the operation of youth and adult recreation programs, athletic leagues, practices, games, tournaments, and special events.

· Assists with setup and breakdown of athletic fields, courts, facilities, and equipment before and after programs and events.

· Operates the concession stand, including preparing and serving food and beverages, stocking inventory, handling cash transactions, and maintaining cleanliness.

· Helps maintain clean, safe, and orderly recreation facilities, parks, restrooms, and common areas.

· Monitors recreation facilities and activities to promote a safe and welcoming environment for participants and visitors.

· Assists coaches, officials, scorekeepers, and recreation staff during games and practices as assigned.

· Provides courteous customer service by answering questions and assisting participants, parents, and visitors.

· Assists with participant registration, basic office duties, filing, answering phones, and other administrative tasks as needed.

· Reports maintenance needs, safety hazards, equipment damage, and participant concerns to supervisory staff.

· Follows departmental policies, safety procedures, and customer service standards.

· Attends required staff meetings and training sessions.

· Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE and Skills

· Knowledge of basic recreation programs, sports, and special event operations.

· Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.

· Knowledge of concession stand operations, food handling, and cash handling procedures.

· Knowledge of basic safety practices related to recreation facilities and programs.

· Skill in providing courteous and professional customer service.

· Skill in communicating effectively with participants, parents, coworkers, and the public.

· Skill in following written and verbal instructions.

· Skill in operating a cash register and accurately handling cash transactions.

· Skill in maintaining clean, safe, and organized facilities.

· Skill in working effectively as part of a team.

· Skill in organizing and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.

· Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

Works under the direct supervision of the Recreation Coordinators, Assistant Director, or Director. Performs assigned duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, and work schedules. Receives specific instructions for new or unusual assignments while carrying out routine tasks with limited supervision. Work is reviewed through observation, completed assignments, and the quality of customer service provided.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

· The purpose of this position is to provide support for County recreation programs, athletic events, concession operations, and facility activities.

· Work consists of a variety of routine tasks that require the ability to follow established procedures, provide quality customer service, and assist with multiple activities simultaneously.

· Responsibilities include assisting with program operations, maintaining clean and safe facilities, supporting concession stand operations, and helping staff ensure programs and events run smoothly.

· Successful performance contributes to a safe, organized, and welcoming environment for participants and visitors while supporting the effective delivery of County recreation services.

· Contacts are typically with coworkers, other County agencies, employees, coaches, parents, vendors, and members of the general public.

· Contacts are typically to provide services; to give or exchange information; or to resolve problems; or to motivate people.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

· The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects.

· The work is typically performed in an office or at athletic fields and facilities. The work is often performed outdoors and exposes the employee to occasional cold or inclement weather.

· The work will be a combination of indoor office work and outdoor field and park maintenance.

· The work requires evening, weekend, and some major Holidays.

SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. The employee may provide assistance and direction to participants, volunteers, seasonal staff, and event attendees during recreation programs and activities as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of the position to be able to answer questions and resolve problems.

· Basic knowledge of youth sports.

· Valid Georgia Driver’s License.

· Must be 18 years of age.

· Able to work evenings and weekends.

· Must be knowledgeable of Microsoft Office programs.

· Must be willing to take a drug test and allow a criminal background check.

Pay: $15.00 per hour
