JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Purpose
The Lamar CISD Grant Writer plays a vital role in securing external funding to support various educational initiatives, programs, and projects within the district. Exceptional writing and communication skills are crucial in effectively communicating the district's needs and goals to potential funding sources. This role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to enhancing educational opportunities for students and the overall growth of the district.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Grant Preparation
1. Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, private foundations, corporations, and other relevant sources that align with the school district's educational objectives.
2. Collaborate with district administrators, educators, and other stakeholders to understand funding needs, program goals, and project details.
3. Work closely with district staff to gather data, statistics, and relevant information necessary for grant proposals, including budgets and program descriptions.
4. Prepare well-written, compelling grant proposals, applications, and supporting documents that clearly articulate the district's mission, objectives, and intended outcomes.
5. Meet deadlines for preparation and submission of grant applications and grant-related reports as necessary to comply with grant requirements.

6. Develop and maintain a comprehensive database of grant opportunities, application deadlines, and submission requirements.
7. Review guidelines for eligibility requirements, disseminate information and explain grant restrictions, regulations, priorities, and deadlines to administrators and staff.
8. Provide technical assistance and train staff to draft project proposals and reports, including the writing and development of program goals and objectives, budget, and interpretation of specifications for grant funding.
9. Assist in the preparation of progress reports for funded projects, demonstrating the impact of grant funding on district initiatives.
7. Review guidelines for eligibility requirements, disseminate information and explain grant restrictions, regulations, priorities, and deadlines to administrators and staff.
8. Provide technical assistance and train staff to draft project proposals and reports, including the writing and development of program goals and objectives, budget, and interpretation of specifications for grant funding.

Professional Development
10. Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences related to grant writing and funding opportunities.
Policy, Reports, and Law
11. Maintain master files on grants, including a database to track and report all grant activities within the district. Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other documents as required.
12. Monitor grant-funded programs and associated expenditures to ensure compliance with regulations and guidelines.
13. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
14. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
15. Attendance at work is an essential function.
16. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Experience
- Three years of grant writing experience
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of trends, processes, and ethics in grant writing
- Demonstrated skills in writing and editing
- Ability to analyze complex information and synthesize into readable and persuasive written material
- Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets, perform data analysis, and do word processing
- Ability to meet established deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and information clearly and persuasively
- Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously
