Position: Food Service Aide
Description: Performs a wide range of duties involved in preparing and/or serving foods and beverages in one or more food service environments. May perform such duties as preparing all food items hot and/or cold necessary for breakfast and lunch. There is set up and clean up each day that everyone is potentially responsible for. Possibly serving students and/or performing cashier duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assisting with food preparation: This may include tasks like washing, cutting and preparing ingredients, as well as assisting with cooking and baking.
- Serving Food: Distributing meals to students in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring proper portion sizes and adhering to established procedures.
- Arranging food and beverages: Setting up serving stations, arranging food in a visually appealing manner and stocking supplies.
- Cashiering: Operating a point-of-sale system, handling cash and check transactions and providing accurate change.
- Serving students and staff: Providing friendly and courteous service, addressing student needs, and responding to inquiries.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary environment: Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, work prep areas, equipment and utensils.
- Washing dishes and pots/pans: Operating dishwashers and assisting with cleaning tasks in the kitchen.
- Proper storage of food: Ensuring food is stored correctly to maintain freshness and safety.
- Assisting with inventory: Keeping track of food supplies, restocking items, and notifying supervisor of low stock and/or adding it to the reorder sheet.
- Following operational procedures: Adhering to established food service guidelines, and sanitation standards.
- Working cooperatively: Collaborating with other food service staff and school personnel to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications:
- Will need to take all proper training to ensure protocols and guidelines are met.
- Must be able to operate a point of sale system handling cash and check transactions
- Must have basic math skills to provide accurate change
- Be able to stand for long periods of time
- An EXCELLENT work attendance record and work habits are required
- Ability to use age appropriate tones and language with students including those with special needs
- Must be able to treat all student information as confidential
Location: Lakewood Elementary School
Salary/Benefits: Per Lakewood Education Support Personnel Association (LESPA) Master Agreement
Hours: 3.5 hours/day Monday - Friday when students are in session from 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Salary : $32,901 - $37,775
