Responsibilities
- Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility to promote patient independence.
- Implement treatment plans developed by licensed occupational therapists, ensuring adherence to prescribed protocols and goals.
- Support pediatric occupational therapy programs focused on childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders by engaging children in therapeutic activities tailored to their needs.
- Facilitate care documentation accurately and efficiently, including progress notes, treatment records, and care plans in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare professionals—therapists, nurses, physicians—to coordinate patient care and optimize therapy outcomes.
- Assist with patient transport within facilities or to external appointments while maintaining safety through manual handling techniques.
- Contribute to care plans by monitoring patient progress, reporting observations, and suggesting modifications to enhance therapeutic effectiveness.
Experience
- Prior experience working in acute care settings such as hospitals or inpatient units is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders and disabilities across various age groups.
- Hands-on experience providing pediatric occupational therapy for clients with childhood developmental delays or autism spectrum disorder.
- Familiarity with medical imaging procedures and understanding of medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy practice.
- Experience working in outpatient clinics, skilled nursing facilities, home health environments, or occupational health settings is preferred.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology to support effective treatment plan implementation and patient care strategies.
- Strong communication skills for engaging caregivers and clients effectively while documenting care accurately for legal and clinical purposes.
